Hospital & Long-Term Care Stays
If you’ve been admitted as an inpatient in the hospital or you’re a resident in a long-term care facility, you can view daily schedule, test results and medications – and if relevant, review discharge tasks. Your loved ones (who are proxies on your account) can also see your care plan whether they’re visiting you, in the same town or another location far away.

What is the MyChart Bedside home screen?
The home screen includes general information about the emergency visit or stay in the hospital or long-term care. For example, you’ll see the following details specific to your stay:
- Your last set of vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature and breathing rate).
- A list problems and diagnoses being managed during your stay.
- Your current list of medications being given during your stay.
If you have other problems, diagnoses and medications in your MyChart medical, but they aren’t relevant to your stay, they won’t appear in the Your Hospital Stay section. If you feel a problem or diagnosis should be addressed during your stay, please discuss this with your care team.
I see a diagnosis or problem listed that I did not know about. Who should I talk to?
It’s possible that as your care team enters information into the medical record, a diagnosis or problem may appear there before the team has had the opportunity to discuss it with you. If this occurs or you have questions, please discuss it with your care team.
How do I find out more information about the medications?
Next to each medication, there is a small information icon (the letter “i”) that you can select to read more about that medication.
What is the Happening Soon feature?
In MyChart Bedside, the Happening Soon feature shows the daily schedule and may include upcoming medications, blood draws, imaging or therapy services, and visits from other clinicians. You can also add your own events, such as a visit from a family member. You can look back on events since your admission date and look ahead through your expected discharge date.
Important: Happening Soon does not include ALL possible events that may occur during the day. For example, it will not include the time the care team meets with you each day while on rounds, nor will it include special hospital events.
What if I don’t understand some of the terms in the medication schedule in Happening Soon?
The information for a medication may include several possible actions. Some are straightforward, such as Given, Due or Omitted. Others are directed more to the care team. Medication safety is extremely important to us. If you have any questions about the medication schedule, please ask.
What is the Taking Care of Me feature?
In MyChart Bedside, this feature helps you learn more about the providers who are delivering care during your stay and see each team member’s role in your care.
Why do I have questionnaires to fill out in MyChart Bedside?
During your stay, you may periodically be asked to complete a questionnaire to share more information with your providers. If you run into issues while filing out a questionnaire, reach out to your care team. After you complete a questionnaire, it will be visible to your care team to review.
Why do I have patient education to review?
During your stay, your care team may assign patient education to you to review. You’ll be able to access this in MyChart Bedside. This can include written materials and videos – available in many languages. Patient education is designed to help you prepare for upcoming procedures and care – and eventual discharge.
What is the My Health feature?
In MyChart Bedside, this is where you can view up-to-date health information such as recent vital signs and lab results, among other things. You can select any item in My Health to see more information and trends over the hospital stay.
What test results will I see in MyChart Bedside?
Lab and imaging results will be visible in Bedside once they have been finalized. It is possible you may see a result in MyChart before your care team has the opportunity to review it or discuss it with you.
If you have a question about any result, please ask your nurse. If the nurse can’t answer your question, they will ensure the daily care team that’s on rounds or your physician will provide the information you need.
