Advanced Physical Therapy Joins Avera Queen of Peace
Avera Queen of Peace Hospital announces that Advanced Physical Therapy joined Avera on Friday, May 1. The clinic will continue to be located at 409 S. Ohlman St. in Mitchell, S.D.
Jeff Lee, MPT, ATC, has been practicing physical therapy in Mitchell since 1998. Lee serves patients from age 8 on up, and works with patients to correct dysfunction and relieve pain caused by injury or medical conditions. Many of his patients are referred by their physicians. “I see a variety of conditions, from athletic injuries, to work comp, to post-operative care. Half of my patients are orthopedic patients,” Lee said.
Lee is a licensed physical therapist and certified athletic trainer, and has worked in both hospital and outpatient clinical settings. He received his bachelor of science degree in athletic training from South Dakota State University and his master of physical therapy degree from the University of Mary. He holds certification as a Level 1 Functional Movement Specialist, and is certified in Kinesio taping. “Kinesio taping is an adjunct to treatment and helps build strength,” Lee said.
Lee is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the South Dakota Physical Therapy Association, the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Lee enjoys running in his spare time and has completed two marathons. He also loves spending time with his wife, Marissa, and children Carter, Caleb, Coby and Cristian.
“Physical therapy gives me a chance to help people and encourage healthy lifestyle choices,” Lee said. “I like to get to know my patients – and learn about their family and career. I want them to be comfortable and feel at home. I’ve been hurt too, and can empathize with their pain. I want to understand what it is they need in order to get back to an active lifestyle,” Lee said.
