Avera McKennan Announces New Board Members
Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls announces new members to its Board of Trustees.
Tom Biegler; Luis Rojas, MD; Alex Ramirez; and Sr. Carmella Luke have joined as board members.
A native of Aberdeen and resident of Sioux Falls, Biegler is President and CEO of Ramkota Companies and Regency Hotel Management. He has experience chairing Chamber of Commerce boards and subcommittees in various communities including Yankton, S.D.; Sioux City, Iowa; South Sioux City, Neb.; Owatonna, Minn.; and Bismarck, N.D.; and has held board positions on Convention and Visitors Bureaus. He currently serves on the board of Sioux Falls Cares.
Rojas is a gynecologic oncologist with Avera Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls, and has been a member of the Avera medical staff since 2007. He also has served as clinical assistant and associate professor for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, and is Interim Clinical Vice President of Medical Oncology for Avera’s Oncology Service Line.
Ramirez is media producer/owner of USA Media TV-Marketing. He is a member of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce board, president of the Great Plains Minority Chamber of Commerce board, serves on the Sioux Falls Human Relations Commission, and completed Rotary Leadership Institute. He is a former member of the Sioux Falls Diversity Council Board and is founder of Pulso Hispano, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and informing the Hispanic community.
Sr. Luke is a fourth grade teacher with Sioux Falls Catholic Schools at St. Mary’s Elementary School. She has served on Avera Marshall Board of Trustees, Monastic Council and SFCS system committees.
