Avera Orthopedics Is the New Name for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Care
Avera Health is rebranding its orthopedics and sports medicine programs under a new name: Avera Orthopedics, and Avera Medical Group clinics within this specialty across the Avera system are changing their names.
“Having one cohesive brand across the Avera system will strengthen the Avera Orthopedics name and help patients understand where they can access the same high quality orthopedics care across the Avera system. Avera has the largest team of orthopedic physicians in the region, with 33 doctors in addition to 20 advanced practice providers,” said Todd Forkel, Regional President and CEO of Avera St. Luke’s Hospital and Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, and Administrative Dyad Leader of the Avera Orthopedics Service Line. Avera’s orthopedic providers cover seven hospitals and 31 outreach sites.
Avera’s team of orthopedic specialists provides a full range of musculoskeletal care including spine, fracture care, sports medicine, surgical joint replacement and repair, arthroscopy, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and podiatry. From dealing with joint pain and stiffness to broken bones and dislocation, patients truly receive comprehensive care at Avera Orthopedics. In Sioux Falls, Avera Orthopedics includes the region’s first orthopedic trauma group to cover the Emergency Department 24/7 for complex fractures.
“Patients will not notice any changes except for the name change on clinic correspondence and signage. They will continue to experience the same high level of quality care and service as in the past. As time progresses, the Avera Orthopedics name will be easily recognized across the entire Avera system for high quality orthopedics care and surgery,” said James MacDougall, MD, Interim Clinical Vice President of the Avera Orthopedics Service Line. “We remain dedicated to the prevention of injuries, as well as guiding patients through diagnosis, treatment and recovery so they can come back even stronger.”
