Newly Constructed Avera Medical Group Windom Clinic Opens
The new clinical space for Access Health Windom and Avera Medical Group Windom will welcome patients Oct. 12.
Construction of the facility took place over the last year on the corner of Hospital Drive and Highway 71. It will include all the services offered at the former clinic on Second Avenue, along with a number of features new to the community.
“It was the great ideas and feedback of our patients and the community that led to the clinic’s unique designs and use of space,” said Stephanie Buhler, MD, Avera Medical Group family practice physician in Windom. “We understand the important role close-to-home health care plays in our region.”
“We’re proud of the enhancements, which include more procedure rooms and larger spaces for our patients and their families,” said Jenny Rupp, clinic manager. “Among the next-level changes patients will appreciate is our wide range of outreach services, including cardiology and podiatry, along with our onsite 3D mammography and DEXA scan exams. After we open, our community will see a number of additions coming online in the coming weeks.”
Seen as the gold standard in breast exams, 3D mammograms will be available to patients within a few weeks. DEXA scans can provide patients important information about bone density in a timely fashion. Cardiology outreach should begin by Oct. 30, Rupp said.
The clinic is operated as a collaboration between Rural Health Care, Inc. and Avera. The building is 12,500 square feet in size, and it includes space for family practice and obstetrics, along with cardiovascular and coordinated care. Avera eCARE® telemedicine specialty services, along with leading-edge X-ray and laboratory services are also aspects of the new facility.
In addition to Buhler, Avera Medical Group providers include Rod Dynes, MD, Mary Olson, MD, and Stephanie Nwala, PA-C.
