Victoria Hanson Named Regional President and CEO of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton
Avera announces Victoria Hanson, PhD, MHA, MSW, LICSW, FACHE, as the next Regional President and CEO of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital.
As top executive in the Avera Sacred Heart region, she will be responsible to provide leadership, direction and administration across all aspects of care delivery within the region. She will also serve as a member of the Avera senior leadership team and provide leadership on designated service lines to support the overall delivery model for the system.
“It is truly an honor to be selected as the next Regional President and CEO for Avera Sacred Heart Hospital,” said Hanson. “Over the past few months, I have met so many welcoming, compassionate physicians, leaders, employees and community members that I look forward to working alongside serving Avera’s health ministry and returning to my home state.”
Hanson is a seasoned health care executive with over 20 years of experience in leading and managing diverse clinical and administrative services in a large integrated health system. She has a proven track record of achieving strategic goals, enhancing quality and patient experience, improving financial performance and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Most recently, Hanson served as the Vice Chair of Administration for the Southwest Minnesota Region of Mayo Clinic Health System since 2016. She previously served as Chief Operating Officer and in several director roles within Mayo Clinic’s Southwest Minnesota Region as well since 2005.
She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a licensed clinical social worker with a PhD in social work from Indiana University, a master's degree in social work from Augsburg College and a master’s degree in health administration from Louisiana State University. Hanson received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology from the University of South Dakota.
Hanson is originally from Dell Rapids, S.D. She and her husband Mike have a son and daughter.
In her spare time, she enjoys staying active outdoors, running and biking – and is looking forward to the beautiful trails in the Yankton area.
She will officially begin as Regional President and CEO on May 3.
