RMOMS-South Dakota
Purpose
The goal of RMOMS-SD (Rural Maternity & Obstetrics Management Strategies) is to improve prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum morbidity outcomes among pregnant patients. This is achieved through expanding telemedicine, increasing access to care and services, enhancing care coordination, and making data-driven decisions, particularly around health-related social needs.
The program targets rural pregnant women in eastern South Dakota and surrounding tribal communities who have significant barriers to Obstetric (OB) services and access to care at local facilities. Avera was one of four nationwide sites to receive RMOMS funding, awarded by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
RMOMS Projects to Improve the Health of Moms and Babies
Through federal grant funds, Avera is looking to innovative solutions including remote monitoring and virtual nursing to improve maternal and fetal outcomes.
