Avera Institutional Review Board
The Avera Institutional Review Board (IRB) serves as an ethical review board to protect the rights and welfare of individuals who serve as subjects of research conducted within the Avera system and the Avera Heart Hospital.
The Avera IRB holds all research projects involving human subjects to high standards by:
- Helping investigators conduct their research along ethical guidelines reflecting professional as well as community standards
- Ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory codes
- Making sure that all research meets regulations established by the United States Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
- Operating in full compliance with all relevant federal, state and local regulations and policies governing research with human subjects
IRB Meeting Schedule
The Avera Institutional Review Board meetings are typically held the first and third Wednesday of each month, starting at noon in the Prairie Center on the Avera McKennan Hospital campus in Sioux Falls, SD. Submission deadlines are at noon, two weeks prior to the meeting date.
