Avera Digestive Disease Institute
Avera Digestive Disease Institute works in partnership with physicians from Avera Medical Group Gastroenterology, as well as other medical disciplines including primary care, cancer care, surgery and hepatology, in order to accurately diagnose and treat disease of the gastrointestinal tract in adults, and provide recommended health screenings including colonoscopy.
As part of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, Digestive Disease has the expertise and technology to provide advanced diagnostic and surgical care, and complex interventional endoscopy procedures. Referrals are welcome, as we work in partnership with primary care physicians in the care of digestive health conditions, including cancer.
We offer diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the entire GI tract, including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct, colon, liver, anus and rectum.
New Digestive Health Building
As Sioux Falls grows, Avera will expand to care for patients now and in the future. We’ll build a new, dedicated digestive health building on the Avera on Louise campus. Gastroenterology services currently in the Avera Specialty Hospital will move there in early 2026, also opening more space for growing orthopedic services.
