Walk-In Laboratory Testing

Take control of your health care and monitor your overall health between doctor visits with convenient, walk-in lab testing now offered at select locations in Aberdeen, Brookings, Gregory, Milbank, Mitchell, Parkston, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Wessington Springs and Yankton, SD; Granite Falls, Marshall, Windom and Worthington, MN; Crofton, Creighton, Hartington, Niobrara, Pierce and Verdigre, NE; Estherville and Rock Rapids, IA.

With Avera QuickLabs there’s no need for a physician referral. That means you and your loved ones can simply stop in when it’s convenient and take advantage of a variety of blood tests for a flat fee.

Convenient & Confidential Tests

At each Avera QuickLabs location, you can choose from a variety of available tests*, including:

  • Blood typing - $35
    Determines your ABO and Rh blood type.
  • Complete blood count (CBC) - $10
    Determines your general health status including anemia, infection or inflammation.
  • Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) - $15
    Determines your general health status. Evaluates the body’s electrolyte balance and/or the status of several major organ systems. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours beforehand is recommended.
  • COVID-19 IgG Antibody Test - $50
    Determines if antibodies are present in your blood that may indicate exposure to the COVID-19 virus. This does not guarantee immunity to COVID-19. 
  • General wellness screen - $75
    Offers a comprehensive screening of your health status including CMP, CBC, lipid panel and TSH. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours beforehand is recommended.
  • Glucose - $10
    Determines whether your blood sugar is within a healthy range for a single point in time. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours beforehand is recommended.
  • Hemoglobin A1C - $20
    Monitors the average amount of sugar in the blood over the past two to three months.
  • Lipid panel - $25
    Assesses the risk of cardiovascular disease. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours beforehand is recommended.
  • Thyroid (TSH) - $30
    Evaluates the thyroid gland function and monitors treatment.
  • Thyroid Panel - $45
    A group of tests to evaluate the thyroid gland and help diagnose thyroid disorders. Includes TSH and Free T4.
  • PSA Screen - $40
    Measures prostate specific antigen levels in men.
  • Vitamin D (25, hydroxy) - $50
    Determines if you have a vitamin D deficiency or if you’re adequately receiving vitamin D supplementation.

*Not all Avera QuickLabs locations offer every test listed. Please call ahead to confirm if a specific test is provided.

All testing is done by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) federally licensed laboratories.

How Soon Will I Receive the Results?

If you're an Avera patient, laboratory test results, except blood typing, will be available within hours on your AveraChart. In addition, your results will be mailed directly to you within a few business days. For further explanation of the testing results, visit Lab Tests Online.

Although you don’t need to schedule a provider visit to receive the lab testing and results, you’re encouraged to schedule an appointment with your provider if you have any abnormal test results.

Do I Need to Fast Before My Test?

In order to receive the most accurate results, some tests might require fasting – or refraining from eating and/or drinking certain foods for a set amount of time. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours is recommended for the following tests:

  • Comprehensive metabolic panel
  • General wellness screen
  • Glucose
  • Lipid panel

What Kind of Payment Is Accepted?

Credit card payment is due at the time of service. Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid will not be billed for Avera QuickLabs services.
