EAP Resources for Employees and Families

EAP Sessions

mother, father and young child reading

EAP sessions with a licensed mental health professional help people address various life issues via short-term problem resolution (S-TPR). Mental health issues are not diagnosed in EAP sessions. EAP sessions may lead to additional referrals via the employee’s insurance (as applicable) for diagnosis and treatment of long-term issues.

At the discretion of the participant, or in the absence of a local area affiliate EAP counselor, virtual EAP sessions via video conference may be authorized in lieu of in-office sessions.

Some of the issues for which EAP sessions can be helpful include:

  • Conflict
  • Drug and alcohol problems
  • Family problems
  • Grief/loss issues
  • Managing personal or work stress
  • Relationship problems

Financial and Legal Consultations

Financial Assist

Contact Our Team

For financial and legal consultations, call 844-395-4568.

Employees can speak with a financial consultant about his or her issue(s). The consultant may provide issue resolution assistance on the spot. If, after speaking with a financial consultant, issue resolution requires additional preparation, planning, or more specialized financial assistance, the financial consultant will offer the employee an appointment with a qualified financial counselor for a detailed telephonic consultation. There is no limit to the length of the consultation or restrictions on repeated use of the service. Issues for which a person may seek a financial consultation include:

  • General money management
  • How to prepare a household budget
  • Financial planning
  • Credit monitoring
  • Dealing with creditors
  • How to get out of debt
  • Tax issues
  • Identify theft

Legal Assist

Callers can obtain consultation for any legal issue, except those involving employment law, or disputes or actions between an employee/dependent and their employer or EAP or for business issues. Issues for which a person may seek a legal consultation include:

  • Family law (e.g., divorce/child custody
  • Estate planning/wills/trusts
  • Landlord/tenant
  • Personal injury/malpractice
  • Criminal law
  • Adoption
  • Real estate
  • Bankruptcy
  • Debtor/creditor
  • Probate

Legal Assist offers two types of legal services to meet employees’ needs. Offering both advice and local referral services ensures that all employees’ legal needs are addressed in an appropriate manner.

  • Advice: The majority of employees requiring legal assistance do not want or need to retain a lawyer. Their concerns can be resolved through a free telephonic advice service.
  • Local Referral: When there is need for an in-person legal consultation, the employee is referred to a conveniently located lawyer with the appropriate expertise for a free half-hour consultation. Ongoing legal services may be eligible for 25% discount on hourly fees.
